Kevin Spacey wants to set the record straight.
The actor revealed he was “living in hotels” and “living in Airbnbs” in an interview with The Telegraph last week. In the wake of being accused of sexual misconduct by over a dozen men and weathering two trials — one brought by four men in London in 2023, which rendered a not guilty verdict, and one brought by actor Anthony Rapp in 2022, which resulted in a not liable verdict — Spacey shared, “I’m going where the work is. I literally have no home.”
But on Sunday, Spacey, who has denied wrongdoing in all cases, shared a video to his official Instagram account rebutting articles that claimed he is homeless.
“I feel the need to respond,” he explained. “Not to the press, but to the thousands of people who have reached out over the past few days offering me a place to stay, or have just asked if I’m okay. And to all of you, let me first say that I am truly touched by your generosity, full stop.”
The two-time Oscar winner shared his feeling that “it would be disingenuous of me to allow you to believe that I am indeed homeless in the colloquial sense.”
Spacey praised Mick Brown, the journalist from The Telegraph who conducted the interview (“where this rumor first began”), but criticized the publication’s eventual framing of the story.
“I’ve been working nearly non-stop this entire year, and for that I have so much to be grateful for. And there are many people, as we all know, who are indeed actually living on the streets, or in their cars, or in terrible financial situations, and my heart goes out to them,” Spacey stated.
“But it is clear from the article itself that I am not one of them, nor was I attempting to say that I was. Which is why it was a shame that The Telegraph chose to undermine the work of their own journalist by selling him out with a knowingly misleading headline for the sake of clicks. But I will now let you go back to your lives. Thank you for just paying attention for a few minutes, and for indulging me, and for all the kindness that you’ve shown me.”

Spacey relayed the details of his Baltimore condo being auctioned off in the Telegraph interview.
“The costs over these last seven years have been astronomical,” he said. Spacey painted a picture of a “not great” financial situation since Rapp leveled the first allegation against him in 2017. Since then, “I’ve had very little coming in and everything going out.”

A separate throng of legal problems have surrounded the sale of that condo, however. Last August, Sam Asgari, the buyer in the $3.24 million foreclosure sale, accused Spacey of refusing to vacate the property. Spacey, in turn, accused Asgari of “bullying and threatening” him, and filed legal papers to void the sale.
In the original Telegraph interview, Spacey noted that there’s hope where his career is concerned, claiming he’s “in touch with some extremely powerful people who want to put me back to work.”
