Burien has a long history of fostering quality music, dance, theater and visual arts and is recognized as a thriving Creative Arts District with the inclusion of local organizations such as Burien Actors Theater, Momentum Dance Academy and Ensemble and Northwest Associated Arts ensembles. 

We invite you to make your holidays merrier and bright by attending arts events and performances in Burien. Don’t forget the beloved holiday tradition of attending The Nutcracker ballet with its enchanting Tchaikovsky score, elegant sets and costumes.

Burien Actors Theater presents The Past, A Present Yet to Come

Opening Friday, Nov. 28 and continuing through Sunday, Dec. 21, with evening and matinee performances (Friday & Saturday nights at 7:30 p.m., Sundays at 2 p.m.).

“A young entrepreneur in Victorian London sets out to produce a play that will soften his Uncle Ebenezer Scrooge’s hard heart. He turns to theatre producer J.B. Roth, who engages a broke, philandering Dickens. Are there ulterior motives for this unlikely mission to save Scrooge?”

Momentum Dance Academy & Ensemble presents ’Tis the Season 

The weekend continues with the performance of ’Tis the Season: ’Tis Mini taking place at the Highline Performing Arts Theater on Sunday, Nov. 30 at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.

Join Contemporary, Hip Hop, Irish, Jazz, Tap, Theatre, and Creative Dance dancers from Momentum Dance Academy & Ensemble for a festive seasonal celebration. Tickets are $10 – $15. Available here: https://app.arts-people.com/?show=304991 

The second version of ’Tis the Season is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 22 and Tuesday, Dec. 23 at 6 p.m. at the Highline Performing Arts Center.

Momentum Dance Ensemble presents The Nutcracker

Don’t miss a centerpiece of the holiday season! The Nutcracker ballet comes to the Highline Performing Arts Theater on the weekend of Dec. 4-6, 2025.  

Join Clara on a journey to the Lands of Snow and Sweets in this magical holiday classic. With its timeless score, beautiful costumes, and enchanting dancing, this full-length ballet will delight you with holiday cheer. Featuring the Momentum Ballet Ensemble and Academy Dancers.

The Highline Community Symphonic Band presents Believe

Enjoy music to warm the winter holiday season with a concert by the Highline Community Symphonic Band. Believe is offered free of charge, on  Sunday, Dec. 7, at 2 p.m. in the Highline High School Theater.

Northwest Associated Arts ensembles ChoralSounds, SilverSounds, TeenSounds, and KidSounds presents ChristmasSounds!

A season of song continues with ChristmasSounds on Saturday, Dec. 13 and Sunday, Dec. 14, at 2 p.m. Featuring surround-sound voices in perfect harmony singing uplifting music of traditional, new, heart-warming, and fun choral selections.
