Five years after Chadwick Boseman’s colon cancer death, the Black Panther hero received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame — but the honor cost $85,000, sources say.
Straight Shuter has learned the superhero movie’s studio, Disney, footed the hefty sponsorship fee, which covers designing and creating the star, installation, permits, security and long-term maintenance.
“The public doesn’t realize the Walk of Fame is less an honor and more a business,” a source explains.

Because celebrities aren’t allowed to pay for their own stars, the responsibility usually falls to studios or estates.

“To charge a man who has passed … it feels wrong,” another insider shares. “But that’s the system. No one gets a star for free.”
