The Moomin music of Sumio Shiratori has been the definitive soundtrack for Moomin fans around the world since the 1990s. For the first time ever, Moomin music will be performed by a large orchestra in a full evening concert in the magnificent surroundings of the Helsinki Music Centre. The concerts in Helsinki sold out in minutes, and many Moomin fans were left without tickets.
“Our inbox was filled with requests to organise more concerts and to perform elsewhere in Finland,” says Heikki Ranta, artistic director of the concerts.
In spring 2026, the orchestra will tour Finland, performing in Turku, Lappeenranta, Jyväskylä, Lahti, and Tampere. Ticket sales for the spring concerts will begin on Monday, September 8, at 9:00 a.m.
“It’s great that we can now take these concerts around Finland and offer Moomin fans the opportunity to experience this musical event together. Taimi Tornikoski and Tuittu Koskinen’s arrangements bring out all the nuances of Shiratori’s compositions in a way that everyone should hear,” says concert producer Seppo Kivimäki.
The original voice actors of the Finnish version of the Moomin animation series will also take to the stage at the spring concerts. Timo Torikka, who played Snufkin, will host the concerts in Tampere and Lahti. Eero Ahre, who played Sniff in the series, will host the concerts in Turku, Jyväskylä, and Lappeenranta.
Concert dates:
21.2. Logomo, Turku
Pe 6.3. Lappeenranta-sali
La 7.3. Paviljonki, Jyväskylä
La 14.3. Sibeliustalo, Lahti

Ticket sales for spring concerts begin on September 8 at 9 a.m. at lippu.fi (Tampere, Jyväskylä, Turku, Lappeenranta) and TicketMaster (Lahti).
Moomin soundtrack performed by young professionals
The orchestra consists of over 20 young professionals, who all have a special place for the Moomins in their hearts. The legendary pieces will be performed as brand-new arrangements by Tuittu Koskinen and Taimi Tornikoski, rich in sound and deeply respectful to the originals.
“The Moomins have been a big part of my childhood and it has always been nice to return to the stories of the characters. If I had been told as a child that I would one day be the conductor of such a show, I certainly wouldn’t have believed it. I’m really excited about this project,” says Sini Korhonen, conductor of the concerts. She studies wind orchestra conducting at the Sibelius Academy at the University of the Arts Helsinki.
