Spotify Wrapped is here! How to access yours and what’s new in 2025

NEW YORK — The holidays are almost here and Spotify has an early gift for users to unwrap.

Spotify Wrapped, the streamer’s year-in-review report, arrived Dec. 3, with plenty of new bells and whistles. Offering users an intimate look at their own listening habits, the release of Wrapped has become a cult phenomenon, as people rush to share their stats on social media and wince at the song they replayed a few too many times.

This year’s report includes new functions including Listening Age, which tells users how old their music tastes make them (warning: if you’re a Springsteen fan, it may tack on 10 years); and Clubs, which sorts listeners into groups based on their tastes.

In a preview for media Dec. 2, the architects of Spotify Wrapped were optimistic fans will love the 2025 version after some criticism in 2024 over the use of AI in building the experience.

Dustee Jenkins, Spotify’s chief public affairs officer, took the critique in stride, insisting the feedback “reminded us just how much this experience means to listeners.” This year’s design is modeled on old-school music sharing, embracing “the world of mixtape culture.”

In a presentation showing off all the new features, Spotify executives pointed out only one uses AI, and the remainder of the report is painstakingly built for months by teams across the globe.

What’s new in Spotify Wrapped 2025? Listening age, clubs, more

Missed an important element of your Wrapped? Worry not! This year, users can slow down the speed of their report and easily revisit sections.

Listening age, based on the release dates of the songs you listened to, is one of the new elements this year. The other is Clubs, which categorizes you as either a member of Soft Hearts, Serotonin, Cosmic Stereo, Full Charge, Grit Collective or Cloud State Society. After you’re sorted (based on your music taste), you’ll also be able to see your role in the club, and which artist inspired your placement.

In the artist-focused section of the report, listeners will be offered a quiz to guess their most-listened-to band or singer. Then, before the big reveal, an “artist sprint” feature based on real month-by-month listening data shows a user’s top contenders racing to the finish before the winner is crowned.

Like last year, listeners will receive a short video message from one of their top artists, and be able to see where they rank on the fan leaderboard. A much-requested Top Albums category has been added and a listener archive feature will spotlight moments in a user’s journey, like when they shared or discovered the most songs. The archive is the only feature powered by AI, according to Spotify.

Spotify Wrapped Party offers shared user experience

Perhaps the buzziest add-on for this year’s Wrapped is a feature that turns it from “a solo experience,” to “a multiplayer celebration,” said Payman Kassaie, the director of brand and creative at Spotify.

An interactive live experience, Party invokes the early days of the pandemic, when a similarly named feature from Netflix allowed people to watch a show together and chat in realtime. Spotify’s take allows users to invite up to nine friends to compare listening stats. The process will reveal who among the group listened to the most music, who scored the rarest listen, or who was the “dinner table explainer” (listened to the most political podcasts).
