Prince Harry made an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on December 3, the same day that Meghan Markle’s Christmas special on Netflix was released. Interrupting Stephen’s speech about Christmas movies, Harry asked the host what it would take for a real prince to appear in one after thinking that he walking into the audition for The Gingerbread Prince Saves Christmas in Nebraska.
The royal then told him: “I’ve got skills. I can ride a horse, I can fly a helicopter [and] I can ride a horse in a helicopter”, before Stephen then asked if he had any connections to any “famous TV actresses”. Thinking of his wife Meghan, who is best known for her past role as Rachel Zane in the US legal drama Suits, Harry said: “I might know one.”
“But I’ll do anything. I’ll record a self tape, I’ll fly myself to an audition. I’ll settle a baseless lawsuit with the White House… all the things you people in TV do!”
Before Harry appeared on the show, the host teased his appearance by sharing a clip from their Instagram video.
In the video, the pair were seen lip-syncing to Alison’s iconic moment from the New Year’s Day special of Great British Bake-Off in 2024.
The viral moment showed ITV star Alison Hammond asking contestant Mark Lutton, “So if you were treated like a King for the day, what would you want me to do for you?”
To which he reponded by telling her that he would ask her to “bake” for him, to which she misheard and thought he said “beg”.
Laughing, but still unsure of what he was saying, he repeated it again after she asked him, “You’d want me to do what? Beg?”
Alison then burst into a fit of laughter when she realised she had misheard his answer.
Harry lip-synced to Alison’s part, with Stephen taking on the part of the contestant.
