The findings paint a troubling picture of an industry that relies heavily on young talent while offering little financial security, protection, or long-term support in return.
According to the report, many early-career musicians are facing serious barriers as they attempt to enter the sector, including unpaid work, unclear contracts, unrealistic expectations, and situations where artists feel pressured to “be grateful” for any opportunity, even if it comes at a personal or financial cost.
