While Meghan Markle released the holiday special of her ‘With Love, Meghan’ series just days before Princess Catherine’s Christmas carol service, one expert suggests Meghan may now shelve her show entirely.
Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams highlights how the two occasions couldn’t have been more contrasting.
He stated: “Meghan is secretly battling to emulate some of the magic that Kate clearly creates, but it is not working.”
He continued: “She displayed almost relentless positivity, which actually becomes weary to watch. It seems that she’d like to be a sort of Californian Mary Poppins, practically perfect in every way, and therefore her show just does not have the same level of substance as Kate’s carol concert.”
The program secured a spot in Netflix’s Top 10 TV Shows in the UK within 24 hours of its debut, featuring Meghan leading culinary demonstrations and craft workshops.
Richard suggests that there is a common perception that Meghan still harbors a “rivalry” with the Princess of Wales.
Princess Catherine spoke about Christmas as a time that “speaks of love taking form in the simplest, most human ways” and “invites us to remember the power of reaching out to one another with generosity of heart, understanding and hope”.
1,600 guests were welcomed to the festive concert at Westminster Abbey, which featured readings from celebrities like Kate Winslet and Prince William.
The event also showcased numerous musical performances by artists such as Katie Melua and Griff. The ‘Together at Christmas’ event was filmed for broadcast and will air as part of a special program on ITV1 and ITVX on Christmas Eve.
It will be rebroadcast on Christmas morning.
