Li Delun Music Foundation Announces 2026 “East-Meets-West New Year’s Concert”

Celebrate the arrival of the New Year with the Li Delun Music Foundation’s unforgettable musical celebration—an artistic, cultural, and emotional journey that has become a cherished Toronto tradition.

Since its establishment in 2003, the annual New Year’s Concert has become one of the most anticipated cultural celebrations for overseas Chinese communities and is part of the global Happy Chinese New Year celebrations. The 2026 performance marks the 19th edition of this signature event, continuing its mission of showcasing cultural harmony through music.

This 2026 Concert Celebrates the Year of the Horse with musical selections connecting historical, cultural, and mythical imagery of horses. The Vibrant Program of Eastern & Western Works will also commemorate the 80th Anniversary of the end of world war II.

Highlights of the program include performances by: The Toronto Festival Orchestra performing New Year Favourites; musicians playing traditional chinese instruments including the pipa, erhu, and guzheng; baritone soloist singing “Ode to the Yellow River” and italian operatic works; and Pianist Eric Guo, First Prize winner of the 2023 International Chopin Competition on Period Instruments.

To accompany the commemorative program, the Foundation will host a Yellow River Art Exhibition on the second floor of the concert hall, featuring Eight paintings by Toronto-based artist Zhang Ango, son of Guang Weiran (lyricist of Yellow River Cantata), and a book-signing of his new English hardcover publication documenting the creation and history of the Yellow River Cantata, including rare historical photos and artwork.
