- Detroit’s Underground Music Academy has welcomed a new cohort of students to its flagship workshop series, ELEMENTS.
The new group features a number of local rising stars: AK, DJ KILLA SQUID, hypemelo, Isaac Prieto, Just Shacoi, Lady Witch, Nick Burgess, and Zoe Talley. All eight artists will receive training on crafting and structuring mixes; self-branding and creating professional press kits; and pitching themselves to promoters.
Established in 2024, ELEMENTS’ inaugural class featured artists like DJ I.V., DJ SPHiNX, Discjockeygeorge and JMT. The free, three-week workshop is a collaborative effort between UMA, Resident Advisor and Paxahau, with support from the Detroit Techno Foundation. It opens annually to intermediate or advanced DJs and producers aged 18 or older based out of the Detroit Metro area.
