Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are constantly criticized for causing problems, but it appears there’s been a shift, and the Sussexes are going out of their way to stay out of trouble. But even so, people will always have something negative to say, even if it is unsubstantiated.
For example, royal watchers Kinsey Schofield and Rupert Bell were talking about Meghan’s Harper’s Bazaar interview with Bell saying, “Harry and Meghan are creating huge problems for the Royal Family,” which seems outdated, that he’s holding onto the past, and for that matter, he didn’t provide any examples, just insults.
As a result, we checked in with Pauline Maclaran, co-author of Royal Fever and Professor at Royal Holloway, to ask for her opinion on the matter.
Speaking exclusively to Daily Express US, Maclaran said: “It seems to me that Harry and Meghan are trying to not cause anymore controversies as far as their royal relatives are concerned. I feel they have been on their best behavior recently.”
According to Bell, the Royal Family has enough on their plate trying to stay relevant, but to us, Harry and Meghan help keep the monarchy relevant with so many people paying attention to them.
It does make us wonder, why are people so interested in Harry and Meghan, for that matter, the Royal Family as a whole, in which Maclaran has a theory on.
She explained: “It’s the gossip appeal that’s at the heart of this — people bonding with each other as they speculate and discuss about these relationships.
“And while the official communication channels for the royals may not like this, it’s the beating heart of public engagement.”
