As the MLB offseason continues forward, the Kansas City Royals are among the more fascinating teams in the entire league. After a poor 2025 season, Kansas City enters the winter with a ton of questions to answer around the roster.
The Royals are led by star infielder Bobby Witt Jr., and he has established himself as one of the best in the sport. But this team needs more help around him if they want to actually compete for a World Series title.
Kansas City isn’t too far off from the postseason, having reached the American League Division Series in 2024. But this front office will need to address the problems on the roster this winter, namely in the outfield.
There have been a few insiders to report that the Royals want to add a few outfielders this offseason, and this could see the team be very active. It remains to be seen how the Royals plan to address the outfield problem this offseason, but it does seem like the team is staying active across the league.
Kansas City could look to bring players in from both the free agent market and via the trade front. The organization has the tools to pull both off, but which guys the team targets is a mystery right now.
The front office has a lot of pressure on it to build out the team for the 2026 season, especially after it underperformed in 2025. Kansas City can’t afford to waste another season, especially with their young guys sitting with cheap contracts at this time.

Anthony Santander Traded Over to the Kansas City Royals
One option for the Royals could be to go after veteran Anthony Santander of the Toronto Blue Jays this offseason. Santander was one of the bigger free agent signings last offseason, as he joined Toronto on a five-year, $92.5 million deal.
However, his first season with the Blue Jays didn’t go as expected, and he was limited to just 54 games during the year. Santander didn’t perform up to par, and there have been rumors that the Blue Jays could explore moving him this offseason.
Santander could be the perfect player for the Royals to go after, and if he can stay healthy, he could be a steal. During the 2024 season, while with the Baltimore Orioles, Santander hit .235 with 44 home runs and 102 runs batted in, making his first All-Star team.
The veteran never looked comfortable this past season with Toronto, mainly due to the injury issues that he dealt with. The Blue Jays may want to get out of the contract that they signed him to, and Kansas City could look to swoop in to land him.
Putting his bat into the Kansas City lineup could give this team more pop, and he could help protect Witt Jr. in the rotation. Kansas City has the resources to make a kove like this, and due to this large deal, his market could be a little weaker than normal.
