Ryan Seacrest is bringing his world of hosting back to the place where it all started.
For nearly 25 years, fans of the media personality have seen him host numerous television and radio shows. And Ryan’s empire continues to grow as he remains the host of both American Idol and Wheel of Fortune. But Ryan’s career actually began when he read the morning announcements at Dunwoody High School, where he graduated in 1992, in his hometown of Dunwoody, Georgia.
Well, now Ryan’s name will live on forever at the school with a surprise announcement about his career. According to a press release obtained by Us Weekly on December 9, the DeKalb County School Board (a.k.a. the school district Ryan grew up in) voted to allow Dunwoody High School to rename its football stadium to Seacrest Stadium in Ryan’s honor. Ryan and his parents, Connie and Gary (Gary died in late October from prostate cancer), spent over two decades making this dream come true.
“At just 16 years old, he transformed the daily announcements into a full morning broadcast show, beginning each day with an enthusiastic, ‘Good morning, Dunwoody!'” the official statement said, per the outlet. “Ryan’s creativity and vision quickly earned him the reputation as ‘The Voice of Dunwoody.’ During his broadcasts, he regularly recognized students, teachers and parents, celebrating their accomplishments and contributions to the school.”
When fans saw Ryan’s incredible news online, they immediately applauded him.
“So deserving! 👏🏾👏🏾,” one person wrote on Instagram. “👏👏👏👏👏👏👏,” another celebrated. “Game changer,” a different follower added.
What an incredible way to acknowledge Ryan’s time in media! The press release also noted that the new Seacrest Stadium will bring upgraded features to Dunwoody High School—and they will benefit the greater community.
“The new Seacrest Stadium will give Dunwoody something it has never truly had — a home field worthy of its pride and tradition,” the press release added. “With 2,000 additional seats, improved accessibility and a modern press box, the Dunwoody community can finally gather under the lights to cheer, celebrate and connect.”
“These stands will be more than a structure — they’ll be a symbol of unity, school spirit and hometown pride that generations of Wildcats will call their own,” the statement concluded.
