MUMBAI, India — Oscar- and Grammy-winning composer A. R. Rahman, who is set to collaborate with Hollywood director Michael Bay, said the coming together of different cinematic worlds opens up fresh creative possibilities for music.
Michael Bay is making his first creative foray into Indian cinema through a new collaboration with Bhanushali Studios Limited. The yet-untitled project will feature music composed by Rahman and will be directed by Anthony D’Souza. Bay is best known for films such as Armageddon, the Transformers franchise and the A Quiet Place franchise, and is widely regarded for redefining the modern action blockbuster.
Commenting on the collaboration, Rahman said the fusion of diverse filmmaking sensibilities creates room for deeper musical expression. “When different worlds of cinema come together, it opens up a beautiful space for music. For me, composing is about finding the film’s soul and giving the score its own unique personality, a voice for the unsaid. I try to let the music carry the emotion,” he said in a statement.
Michael Bay described the project as an opportunity to blend Hollywood-style action with the emotional depth of Indian storytelling. “It will be an exciting chance to mix Hollywood’s action style with the heart and emotion of Indian storytelling,” Bay said. “Working with Rahman, Vinod, and Tony is a chance to create a new kind of cinematic experience—one with power, rhythm, and incredible visuals.
