Riley Green Talks Historic No. 1 Hit and Hints at His Next Radio Single [Exclusive]

The country superstar reflects on his latest No. 1 and hints at the song he’s eyeing as his next radio single.

Riley Green is closing out the year on a high note with his sixth career No. 1 single, his third chart-topper of the year, and a history-making milestone as the first artist since Taylor Swift to score back-to-back self-written No. 1 hits on the country radio charts.

His latest solo-written single, “Don’t Mind If I Do,” featuring Ella Langley, has reached the top spot on both the Billboard and Mediabase Country Airplay charts. The achievement follows Green’s self-penned “Worst Way,” as well as “You Look Like You Love Me,” which he co-wrote with Langley and Aaron Raitiere.

Green Feels “Pretty Lucky” to Have Achieved Three No. 1 Singles This Year

These accomplishments are something the Alabama native doesn’t take lightly, admitting, “It’s crazy.”

“They’re [No. 1 singles] not easy to come by. I’ve spent enough time with songs on the radio to know that you’ve got to get pretty lucky, and things really have to work out,” Green told us during a recent conversation, reflecting on his year and partnership with HEYDUDE.

“And to have three songs that I was a writer on, and two songs with Ella, even is just such a cool thing,” he continued. “To see the moment she’s having in country music, and to see the music really, really resonating with people, it just feels like they’re really fired up about it.”

Is “Change My Mind” Heading To Country Radio?

Looking ahead, Green is already thinking about what song to send to country radio next. When we suggested “Change My Mind” from his latest album Don’t Mind If I Do, he smiled and seemed to confirm our thinking.

“That sounds like a good idea,” he teased.

“It’s always kind of crazy when you have songs like this where ‘Worst Way’ just blew up and became this huge song, and then ‘Don’t Mind If I Do’ did the same thing. ‘Change My Mind’ is one that really did, too,” Green explained. “So I’m excited about a song that’s already had a life of its own getting a chance to be heard by people on country radio who maybe haven’t heard it yet, or haven’t heard of me. Radio is still the biggest way to get songs out there, and I’d love for that to be the next single. It’s definitely a front-runner for me.”

With six chart-topping singles under his belt, Green has developed a strong instinct for choosing songs that resonate with fans. For him, the key is letting listeners lead the way.

“I’ve always been a big fan of playing songs live, teasing them on socials, or putting them out before radio just to get a feel for them,” he said. “There’s no better judge of whether a song’s a hit than the fans. They’ll let you know, if you play it at a show, they’ll sing it a little louder if it’s a big one.”

2026 Is Shaping Up To Be Another Big Year For Green

Green recently wrapped a major year of touring with a stop in Las Vegas. Now, he’s enjoying some well-earned downtime before kicking off the new year in Mexico at Luke Bryan’s Crash My Playa and launching his Cowboy As It Gets Tour, which will bring his live show to fans around the world in 2026.
