A big-name artist behind several 1970s and ’80s hits is coming to the 2026 Minnesota State Fair.

Rod Stewart and special guest Richard Marx will perform at the Grandstand Stage at 7 p.m. Sept. 1, the state fair announced Dec. 9.

Known for hits like “Maggie May,” “I Don’t Want to Talk About It” and “You Wear It Well,” Stewart’s career has spanned over 50 years and covered a range of genres, including rock, soul and big band swing.

He has also sold over 250 million albums and singles worldwide and earned two inductions into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, the Grammy Living Legend award and was knighted at Buckingham Palace in 2016 for his services to music and charity, among several other recognitions.

Marx, a Grammy-winning singer, songwriter and producer, is known for songs like “Right Here Waiting,” “Now and Forever” and “Hazard.” He has also written and produced with other artists such as Barbra Streisand, Keith Urban and Kenny Rogers and is releasing his new album “After Hours” Jan. 16.

State fair: ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic to bring Bigger & Weirder tour to Minnesota State Fair

Stewart’s performance is the second concert announced for the 2026 state fair so far. An Aug. 28 concert from “Weird Al” Yankovic was previously announced for the second day of the fair.

Tickets for Yankovic’s concert are already on sale, and tickets for Stewart’s concert will go on sale at 10 a.m. Dec. 12 on the state fair’s website.
