Boots is an eight-episode dramedy, inspired by former U.S. Marine Greg Cope White’s memoir The Pink Marine. The series is set in the “tough, unpredictable world of the 1990s US Marine Corps when being gay in the military was still illegal,” according to Tudum.
As I previously wrote, “Boots is one of those shows that took viewers and critics completely by surprise. Though it lacks the star-power associated with so many other shows on [my best of 2025 list], the dramedy packs a true emotional punch (no wonder it spent so long on Netflix’s Top 10 Shows list).”
Unfortunately, none of that was enough. (Meanwhile, Kim Kardashian’s terrible law firm series got renewed, and I’m still stewing over it.)
And even more unfortunate? There’s no chance for the series to be scooped up by another streaming service (a la Manifest). Per Deadline, “Because of Netflix’s strict exclusivity terms, it is virtually impossible for an outside studio to shop a series after it has been canceled by the streamer.” *Sigh*
