Sir Rod Stewart, 80, shows no signs of slowing down. The “Hot Legs” singer brought his recent Athens concert to a screeching halt to scold an unruly fan. The energetic exchange was all caught on video and has sparked a major comment section conversation about who’s in the right, or wrong, in the heated moment.
In video of the exchange shared to social media, Stewart can be seen in an animated interaction with someone in the front of the audience at his Athens show. While the band plays “Do You Think I’m Sexy?” Stewart stands at the edge of the stage, waving his hands before abruptly commanding the band to stop the music.
“Out the f***ing way,” Stewart said. “You’re spoiling the show for everybody. Out the way. Leave. We don’t need you here.”
Fans speculated Stewart was angered when a fan or security guard confronted another concertgoer for holding up a sign near the front of the crowd.
“All she’s doing is putting up a sign,” Rod continued. “It’s not hurting you, is it, mate?”
Stewart then asked the band to continue before moving on with the show.
Fans React to Rod Stewart’s Concert Outburst
Commenters ranged from supportive to critical, while many quipped that the legendary British singer was just “cranky” because his soccer team, Celtic FC, had lost earlier that day.
“His team got beat 3-1 today,” commented one soccer-savvy fan. Another added, “God forbid who’s going to the show tonight after that Celtic game.”
“He did the same years ago in Sydney. Grumpy old so and so,” shared another.
“St. Mirren beat his team lol,” commented another.
“He’s pissed off at the security guard for tampering with the enthusiasm of a fan enjoying the show,” clarified another.
Rod Stewart Reflects on Touring and Longevity
Stewart, whose career dates back to the 1960s, announced last year that he plans to stop performing large-scale tours but has no intention of retiring altogether, saying, “I love what I do and I do what I love. I’m fit, have a full head of hair, and can run 100 metres in 18 seconds at the jolly old age of 79.”
The famously fit singer also shared, “I’m aware my days are numbered, but I’ve got no fear. We have all got to pass on at some point, so we are all in the same basket. I am going to be enjoying myself for these last few years as much as I can. I say few, probably another 15. I can do that easy, mate, easy.”
He continued, “I’m not like I was in the ’70s and ’80s and I can’t stay up all night, get drunk, and go mad and still have a voice just like that. Nowadays I have to protect my voice before and after every show. But no, you think I just have water on my rider? You’re talking to Rod Stewart here, mate. We go mad after every show. There are 13 of us, six women, really great musicians, and I make them drink. We absolutely love it.”
Rod Stewart will play a concert in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday before beginning a U.S. tour in February. The singer was recently added to the star-packed Jazz Fest 2026 lineup, which includes Stevie Nicks, Eagles, David Byrne, and the Black Keys.
