For the past 16 years, Central New Yorkers have enjoyed the friendly vibe and wide range of musical offerings at the January JazzFest, the biggest winter jazz event in the region. Still held in the northern suburbs, it moves to the Timber Banks Clubhouse on Saturday, January 31 from 2-7 p.m., taking place at the spacious banquet facility above Persimmons, where CNY Jazz at Timber Banks is presented weekly.

Faithful patrons of the day-long “funraiser” that supports the youth programs of CNY Jazz won’t be disappointed by the new venue, new schedule, and new lineup for 2026.

Atlas

Trimmed by an hour and presented on one accessible level rather than the multiple stories of its previous location, the gala is investing in a more powerful lineup anchored by upstate legend ATLAS, as well as other high profile jazz groups well-known to upstate audiences.

“We have Ryan Millard of ‘Moving with Millard’ to thank for this big leap forward, as well as continued support from Seneca Savings and many other loyal corporate sponsors,” said Larry Luttinger, CNY Jazz leader and presenter. “This combined investment in our mission and programs makes it possible to bring more value to bear on this important annual fundraiser. The surroundings are spectacular, and the entire day will be a celebration.”

The day takes advantage of multi-generational talent nurtured by early training in CNY Jazz educational programs. Dan Fields, Syracuse’s standout jazz tenor voice, opens the show, followed by millennial guitar virtuoso Drew Serafini and his trio with special guest and veteran saxophone asset Joe Carello as his special guest.

Then the venue morphs into a blowout dance party presented by ATLAS, the legendary funk tribute band working on a half-century of service to audiences across New York. Following its tradition of showcasing young talent, the day concludes with a “CNY Jazz Alumni Jam” populated by some of the most successful and talented professional to come out of CNY Jazz programs, including their SummerJazz Workshop, CNY Jazz Youth Orchestra, and others over the years.

“This is all about passing the baton to the jazz artists of the future,” said Luttinger. “Come on out and witness the fruits of our labor over the last three decades, in our 30th anniversary season, and see for yourself. You won’t be disappointed.”

A “Your Choice” raffle will be held throughout the event, and cash bar and menu will be available.

Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door.
