Prince George was told Princess Diana “would be ever so proud of you” as he met the public on Christmas Day and his reaction went viral on TikTok.
The future king was with his siblings, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis as well as his father Prince William when he met a royal fan named John, as the Wales family went to church in Sandringham on Christmas morning.
The man can be heard in a social media video saying: “George, I’ve got something to say to you. Granny Diana would be ever so proud of you.”

A TikTok video of the moment went viral after it was liked 438,000 times and viewed 4.7 million times. The clip showed George give a chuckle and reply by saying “thank you.”
Prince William lost his mother, Diana, when he was 15 years old after she died in a car crash in Paris in 1997, a year after divorcing the then Prince Charles, now King Charles III.
The Wales family still find ways to pay tribute to her legacy, including when William recently took Prince George to homelessness charity The Passage, where Diana also took William when he was a child.

The interaction at Sandringham began when Prince William saw the royal watcher, who he appeared to know already, and said “John, how are you?”
William then encouraged his children to approach the man one by one and the man said “happy Christmas” to each of Louis, George and Charlotte. He then called George over specifically to tell him Diana would be proud.
At the same time, Louis got given some large teddy bears and some chocolates, which he appeared pleased with.
Prince William and Kate’s Recent Tributes to Diana
William took George to visit homelessness charity The Passage, in London, on December 16, when he got to see Diana’s name in the guest book dating back to her own visit to the charity with William, in 1993.
Princess Kate also played a duet with Princess Charlotte on the piano for her Together at Christmas carol service, at Westminster Abbey, on December 8.
Diana was also an accomplished pianist, who surprised royal watchers by playing Sergei Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 2 during a visit to Australia with Charles in 1988. Diana was herself walking in the footsteps of her maternal grandmother Baroness Fermoy, who studied with the legendary French pianist Alfred Cortot, according to an article for radio station Classic FM.
