Disturbed are back in the conversation, not because of a tour announcement or a surprise drop, but because the band has confirmed they are quietly working on new music while taking a deliberate break from the road.

The update comes via bassist John Moyer, who spoke with Mark Strigl and attempted to shut down speculation that the band’s downtime signalled anything dramatic, according to Moyer, the pause is routine, not a red flag.

“Yeah, you know, every band takes a break after they tour. It’s pretty standard.

Some people are trying to make — honestly, it’s so weird. Social media, and some of these news outlets, they try to blow things up, ‘Disturbed are taking break after’ blah, blah, blah… Every band takes a break after a tour. There’s nothing special about this. It’s not that big a deal.”

Moyer explained the band has been operating at full throttle for years, and the timing made sense to slow things down, between relentless touring and personal milestones, the pause is framed as necessary rather than worrying.

“There’s nothing wrong. Everything’s great. Dave [Draiman] just got married. He might wanna enjoy some time with his wife before we jump back out on the road again. Just a thought.”

Frontman David Draiman echoed the sentiment, confirming that the break is intentional and tied to the band’s next creative phase.

“Not sure when we will be headed back out. We all need a nice long break. Hope to see you when we do.”

He later added that he was:

“looking forward to being with family and friends” during his “nice long break.”

While the downtime itself isn’t headline shocking, Moyer also confirmed that Disturbed have been actively writing new material behind the scenes for some time now. According to him, the band has been working on new songs for “the last two years,” though there’s no firm timeline for release.

“It’s just a matter of which songs are right for us, what the concept is, and all the things that go with creating that art and pushing it.”

When that material sees the light of day remains unclear. For now, Disturbed appear content to step off the treadmill, recharge, and figure out what version of themselves comes next.
