“Fantasia” in concert

The Philadelphia Orchestra presents Disney’s “Fantasia” in concert Friday through Sunday at Marian Anderson Hall in the Kimmel Center. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Friday and at 2 on Saturday and Sunday. The program features music from “Fantasia” and its sequel, “Fantasia 2000” performed live to film. The orchestra and its famed music director Leopold Stokowski played key roles in the original 1940 film. See ensembleartsphilly.org for tickets.

 “Suffs” musical

The touring Broadway musical “Suffs” will be at the Academy of Music in Philadelphia starting Tuesday and continuing through Jan. 18.  The show tells the story of the brilliant, passionate and funny American women who fought tirelessly for the right to vote. Created by Shaina Taub, the first woman to independently win Tony Awards for Best Book and Best Score in the same season, this new musical explores the triumphs and failures of a struggle for equality that’s far from over. Three Kings Day

Ensemble Arts Philly will present its family-oriented celebration of Three Kings Day, or Dia de los Reyes Magos,” on Wednesday at the Kimmel Center’s Commonwealth Plaza, event held annually at the Kimmel Center in the month of January since 2014. This tradition honors the visit of the Three Wise Men  to baby Jesus, bringing gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Just as Santa Claus brings gifts in other cultures, the Wise Men or Reyes Magos bring presents to children in Mexico and other Latin American countries. During this event, children can write letters to the Three Kings, enjoy performances, break piñatas and much more. All attendees get to sample Rosca de Reyes bread and warm Mexican chocolate. Ice racing

World Championship Ice Racing’s Crazy Train tour comes to the Santander Arena in Reading on Saturday at 7:30. This race features dirt bike and quad racers competing on a sheet of ice. For tickets, go to www.santander-arena.com/.

Newtown Theatre

On Saturday at 8 p.m., The Newtown Theatre in Bucks County presents Michael Patrick’s Ring of Fire Band paying tribute to Johnny Cash, one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century. Patrick and his band have spent more than a decade performing Cash’s hits, and some of its members have shared the stage with some of Cash’s family members.

On Tuesday at 7:30 the theater is screening “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty” starring Ben Stiller. On Wednesday at 7:30 there will be a “pay what you wish” screening of Frank Capra’s 1934 classic comedy “It Happened One Night” starring Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert.

Comedian Sherrod Small returns to SoulJoel’s at the SunnyBrook Ballroom near Pottstown on Saturday at 8. Small is a comedian, writer, producer, actor, television personality and radio host known for witty commentary, quick improvisation and his views on politics, culture and everyday life.

Ardmore Music Hall

Two shows featuring Candy’s Volcano are taking place Friday at the Ardmore Music Hall. First up is WXPN’s Free at Noon show. RSVP at xpn.org/free-at-noon/. At 8 Candy’s Volcano returns to the stage for the David Bowie Birthday Bash featuring many of the legendary performer’s hits.

Saturday is Southern Rock Night at Ardmore, featuring tribute bands playing the music of the Black Crowes, Tom Petty and the Allman Brothers Band. The show starts at 7:30.

People’s Light’s production of “A Christmas Carol” runs through Sunday at the theater in Malvern, Chester County. Learn more at peopleslight.org/.

The Festival of Trees is taking place at the Pearl S. Buck House in Perkasie through Saturday. The event showcases trees and vignettes designed by Bucks County artists, decorators and community groups to convey the spirit of Buck’s legacy as an author, humanitarian, and activist. “A Longwood Christmas” runs through Jan. 11 at Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square. Guests step into a shimmering world inspired by the brilliance of gemstones and the magic of the holidays.
