Bayern Munich star Luis Díaz’s talents are not limited to football, as the Colombian has released a song titled ‘La Promesa’ (‘The Promise’).
Díaz, who has lit up the Bundesliga since his arrival in Bavaria back in the summer, has certainly been busy during the league’s winter break.
After netting eight goals and contributing six assists over the course of 14 top-flight appearances in his first half-season in Germany, ‘Lucho’ has taken a surprising sideways step in his career with the release of his first song.
To do so, the Bayern winger collaborated with Juanda Iriarte and Nelsen, two leading champeta artists, an Afro-Colombian music and dance genre.
“Music is one of my hobbies and a way of expressing myself from the heart, something I do with great love and respect for the art,” Díaz explained. “This project was born out of passion, from enjoying the process and connecting with you from another place.”
Announcing his single’s release on Instagram, Díaz revealed his intention behind his making the song: “I close the year with gratitude. To God, for guiding my every step, giving me strength when things got tough, and never abandoning me.
“To my family, thank you from the bottom of my heart. For always being there, through the sacrifices, the difficult moments and every dream that seemed unattainable.

“None of this would be real without you. Every effort makes sense when you can give back to your loved ones at least a fraction of what they did to help you succeed. This song comes from the bottom of my heart, from the most sincere gratitude for what we have built together.
“It’s the result of a long journey of faith, work, and love; a path where God has worked, and where my family has fought with me and for me. Everything I am, and everything I have today, is thanks to that.”
The accompanying video for his track features Díaz singing intercut with clips of goals from throughout his career for Barranquilla FC, Porto, Liverpool and now Bayern.

The Bundesliga record champions are back in league action on 11 January when they play host to Wolfsburg on Matchday 16.
