For Brooklyn Marcee, a senior business administration student and pole vaulter for Little Rock Track and Field, serving as the University of Arkansas at Little Rock’s 2025 Homecoming Royal was an experience filled with meaning and memories. As her tenure comes to a close, she reflects on the moments that defined her journey.

Marcee is actively involved on campus as a Chancellor’s Leadership Corps scholar and mentor, a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, and the volunteer coordinator for the Student Activities Board.

Last year, she earned one of the Ohio Valley Conference’s highest honors, being named an OVC Scholar-Athlete, an award presented to just six student-athletes across the conference who exemplify excellence in academics, athletics, and leadership.

Looking back, what moment during your time as Homecoming Royal stands out to you the most, and why?

“Looking back, some of the most memorable moments were getting to represent at multiple campus events, such as Maroon Monday, BBQ at Bailey, and pep rallies. I could truly feel the fun energy and unity this campus brings. Seeing students, faculty, staff, and alumni come together makes me feel pride in our school.”

How has this experience shaped the way you see yourself or your role within the UA Little Rock community?

“This experience has helped shape me into a better leader. Being Homecoming Royal has pushed me to be more intentional with those I interact with. It has allowed me to meet new people and build lasting relationships.”

What did representing UA Little Rock mean to you personally?

“Representing UA Little Rock has been an incredible honor. As someone who is deeply involved in our campus it meant a lot to be able to represent our campus community and the programs I’m involved in.”

What lessons or memories from this journey do you think you’ll carry with you long after graduation?

“I would carry the importance of being involved and having a community around you. If I didn’t decide to get involved at UA Little Rock, my experience would have been very different. I am forever grateful that I had people around me pushing me to be involved, meet new people, and engage with those around me.”

What advice would you give to future students who may be considering running for Homecoming Royal?

“My advice would be: just do it! Don’t let self doubt or fear stop you from putting yourself out there. Homecoming Royal is about stepping outside of your comfort zone and representing your school as well as organizations. No matter the outcome, this experience will help you grow as a person and connect you with new people.”

Applications for the 2026 Homecoming Court are now open and are due by 5 p.m. on Jan. 28. Each candidate will participate in an interview with the Homecoming Committee, and the top seven candidates will be selected to serve on the court. Those seven finalists will then be voted on by the student body.

This year, the Homecoming Royal will receive a $500 scholarship and have the opportunity to be involved in campus events throughout the year.

To be eligible, students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 and be enrolled full time (at least 12 credit hours) as a sophomore, junior, or senior.

Applications are available on Trojan Engage. For questions, email [email protected]
