Ethan Hawke hints on his upcoming 10th movie with Richard Linklater
Ethan Hawke is optimistic about his upcoming movie with director Richard Linklater, which will be their 10th project together.
On Wednesday, Jan. 7, with the Today show’s Craig Melvin, the Oscar-nominated actor spoke in full swing about the upcoming film.
“Everything’s been preparation for what’s to come,” Hawke quipped. “The 10th is going to be the best.”
Melvin called his comments a “bold statement.”
“I’m making it, man,” Hawke clarified. “I’m not even shy. I’m not even nervous about saying it.”
The Dead Poets Society star added that Linklater and he have been planning this movie since 1998, and the director had his mind on it even longer before that.
“He’s had this dream for a long time in his head, and it’s gonna be good,” he continued, adding about the upcoming film. “Personally, I have no doubt in saying it will be among the greatest films ever made. And I’ll be back on your show in about 18 months to back it up. We’ll finish it next year, so yeah, ‘27.”
Hawke revealed few specifics, only confirming Melvin’s hunch that the project will be a “period piece.” The film hasn’t been officially announced yet, and both Hawke and Linklater have busy schedules ahead.
