Beverly D’Angelo wishes that she took more opportunities to bare it all on screen.
The 74-year-old actress, best known for playing Ellen Griswold in the “National Lampoon’s Vacation” film series, recently told Fox News Digital that she regrets not doing more nude scenes earlier in her career.
“I have to say, people ask me, ‘What would you say to your younger self?’ I would’ve said, ‘Do more nudity,’” D’Angelo told the news outlet.
The Golden Globe nominee recalled filming the 1983 movie and watching her co-star Christie Brinkley, who played the flirty “Girl in the Ferrari,” struggle with a topless scene.
D’Angelo felt the nudity wasn’t necessary for Brinkley’s character, but believed it was important for her role.
“Her being topless really wasn’t that pivotal to what was going on in the scene. But, I thought it really made a difference to see the little devoted wife say to her husband, ‘OK, you want to have fun? I’ll show you fun,’ and then just strip off,” D’Angelo said. “I thought that was great. I thought it was really perfect.”
“So, I didn’t have any qualms about it,” the actress added. “And the pool was heated.”
D’Angelo has remained connected to the beloved franchise that made her famous, Parade noted. She recently reunited with her “Christmas Vacation” castmates Chevy Chase, Randy Quaid and Juliette Lewis at Rhode Island Comic Con, 36 years after the holiday movie premiered. D’Angelo also returned to her role as Ellen Griswold for a campaign with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts this past holiday season.
