Rohit Shetty opens up on never winning an award
Rohit Shetty candidly made a humorous remark about not winning awards at a recent media event held in Mumbai.
During the press briefing, the director stated, “I have absolutely no relationship with awards.”
Speaking at the INCA press conference, the 51-year-old confessed, he has directed 17 films but is only invited to award shows to host them.
In the same conversation, he commented about the North-South cinema divide as “unnecessary and overstated,” adding, “Production houses from the South have been making Hindi films for decades, and directors from there have worked here. Films from the North have also been made in the South. This has been happening since the 1950s.”
Talking about remakes, he mentioned, “It has only become controversial now when someone officially remakes a film. But the truth is that remakes and cross-industry collaborations have always existed. We should simply celebrate cinema.”
Moreover, he stressed about unity and global recognition, saying, “When we are recognised internationally, people should not ask which state a person or film comes from. They should only know that this is an Indian actor, an Indian film, or an Indian producer.”
On the work front, Rohit’s latest film was Singham Again in 2024, with a star-packed cast including Ajay Devgn, Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff, Arjun Kapoor, and Deepika Padukone.
