
Samantha Ruth Prabhu praises Yami Gautam’s powerful performance in ‘Haq’
Indian actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu praised Yami Gautam’s performance in the courtroom drama Haq, describing the film as emotionally powerful.
Samantha shared that Yami’s portrayal of Shazia Bano moved her deeply. She posted on Instagram Stories, highlighting the performance and applauding the entire team behind the film.

“I had to write this the moment the film ended because I was scared I’d lose even a fraction of what it made me feel. Stories like this are rare,” Samantha wrote.
She added, “So deeply human. So layered. So free of judgement or bias. And even rarer when they’re brought alive by an actor of this calibre. @yamigautam. @reshunath your writing stayed with me. @yamigautam your performance moved me in ways I can’t fully explain. Earlier, filmmaker Karan Johar had also joined the Kaabil actress’s extended fan base, calling himself “a fan for life.”
Taking to Instagram, Johar wrote, “HAQ, The Shazia Bano story and victory moved me to a puddle of tears I was speechless at the end and then clapped loudly for the film and lamented that I missed the opportunity of watching this exceptionally empowering film in the cinema.”
While describing Yami’s portrayal as particularly noteworthy, the My Name is Khan director added,“I don’t think I have been this moved by a performance in many years to say that @yamigautam is Brilliant, outstanding, Pathbreaking is still not saying enough Her silences, her stares, her last monologue and her stance throughout the film is a master class of craft and conviction Salute and Salaam to her!.”
Directed by Suparn Verma, Haq starred Yami Gautam and Emraan Hashmi in lead roles, with Sheeba Chaddha playing a pivotal role.
The film narrated the story of Bano, a woman who approached the law after her husband married his first love and denied financial support for their children.
Despite receiving positive reviews, Haq collected ₹29 crore worldwide at the box office.The film later found a wider audience when it premiered on Netflix on January 2.
