J. Cole has announced that his highly anticipated album “The Fall-Off” is scheduled to be released on February 6.

In a trailer for the album, Cole is pictured washing is car at a self-service station and sitting at a restaurant counter eating dinner. At the end of the clip, a snippet from a song that’s presumed to be on the album plays as the album title appears.

Fans have long been awaiting the arrival of “The Fall-Off” since at least 2018, when he included “1985 — Intro to ‘The Fall Off” as the concluding track on “KOD.” Over the years, Cole referenced the album and promised its release, stating at a 2019 performance in Las Vegas that the record would be released the following year. Though the album didn’t surface, he released a list at the end of 2020 that suggested “The Fall Off” would still see the light of day.

Instead, Cole released “The Off-Season” in 2021. The record, executive produced by T-Minus, Ibrahim Hamad and Cole himself, featured guest appearances from 21 Savage, Lil Baby and 6lack, and included additional production from Timbaland, DJ Dahi, Frank Dukes, Boi-1da and more. Upon its release, the album broke Spotify’s one-day streaming record for 2021 and debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, marking his seventh leader on the chart.

Cole most recently released his surprise mixtape “Might Delete Later,” which he put out amid his brief involvement in the feud between Kendrick Lamar and Drake. He included the Lamar response track “7 Minute Drill” on the initial release but soon removed it from streaming services and apologized at his Dreamville Festival 2024.
