Former Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan is in hospital and has blamed US president Donald Trump after sharing a photo from a hospital bed following an accident
Everything you need to know about why
- Piers Morgan, 60, shared a picture to his social media from the hospital and told fans that he had fractured his femur so badly, he required a hip replacement.
- The former Good Morning Britain host explained he had tripped while at a restaurant and would have to use crutches to aid his mobility for several weeks. He’s also not allowed to take long-haul flights for the next three months and in a rather unexpected twist, placed the blame on his long-term friend, President Donald Trump.
- Piers shared a photo from a hospital bed, as well as a close up snap of his X-ray, and said: “Breaking news! 1. Tripped on a small step. 2. In a London hotel restaurant. 3. Fractured femur. 4. So badly I needed a new hip. 5. Recovering in hospital. 6. Crutches for 6wks [sic]. 7. No long-haul for 12 wks [sic]. 8. New Year off to a cracking start! 9. I blame Donald Trump.”
- Many famous friends rushed to send their well wishes, including presenter Eamonn Holmes, former England cricketer Monty Panesar and Loose Woman Katie Piper.
- Piers’ blame on Donald Trump comes almost two decades after they first becamae friends, which all started when Piers took part in The Celebrity Apprentice 2008, which, back then, was headed by Trump. Piers made it to the final, and eventually won, with Trump telling him: “Piers, you were tactless, ruthless, aggressive, hard, possibly brilliant, you knocked them all out one by one – you win.” From that moment a bond was made and Piers has previously said they get along because they are so similar.
- The shock health update from Piers follows shortly after he took aim at Donald Trump on X, formerly known as Twitter, following his ambitions to purchase Greenland and hit countries with tariffs, including the UK.
