Brooklyn Beckham unleashed his fury at his parents David and Victoria Beckham in a scathing statement as the family’s public feud reaches boiling point
As Brooklyn Beckham accuses his famous parents of making him ‘uncomfortable’ and having ‘humiliated’ him, the Mirror charts the moments that started it all.
The sexual innuendo
When he was a teenager, Victoria Beckham publicly made a sexual joke referring to erections with Brooklyn – then aged 14 – in the audience. While accepting an accolade at the Glamour Woman of the Year Awards, Victoria took to the stage and realised the microphone was too low down for her so she quipped: “Oh, I have to raise it, that doesn’t happen often.”
It prompted laughter from the audience before she gasped in shock and put her hands to her face. She added: ‘Oh my god, I didn’t even mean that.’ She then directly referred to her son telling the audience while still on stage: “I’m so sorry Brooklyn, I’m so sorry. They told me to be funny but that was completely off the cuff!’

The ‘big boy’ comment
No one wants to be called a ‘big boy’ when they’re 16 years old and least of all in public by their dad. But this is something David Beckham decided to do.
In a seemingly well-meaning post in 2015, the former footballer shared a monochrome snap with his son on Instagram, planting a kiss on his head. He proudly said: “Something tells me I love this not so little man so much …… Growing up fast into a perfect gentleman and hiking buddy…. I love you big boy.”
The mocking of his hair
His mum’s best friend is hairdresser Ken Paves, and dad David Beckham was once as famous for football as he was for his haircuts. But that didn’t stop Victoria poking fun at Brooklyn’s choice of hair in 2017.
While he was dating actress Chloe Grace Moretz, his mum compared his choice of style to comic book character Dennis the Menace. Posting a split shot of Brooklyn and Dennis next to each other she wrote on Instagram: “@brooklynbeckham X That hair!!! @chloegmoretz what have u done!!”
Chloe replied, “Hahahah ohhhhh my god” in the comments. Brooklyn did not appear to comment publicly.
The public shaming his partied-out state
While doing what a lot of teenagers would do after going to see live music at a festival in 2015, Brooklyn appeared to be passed out on the sofa at home. It seemed that his mum then took a picture of him without his knowledge and shared it with her online followers.
Victoria posted a photo of him with the caption: “Back from Coachella @brooklynbeckham x vb” Some comments referred to a then-16-year-old Brooklyn’s bottom.
Wearing a ‘I’m special’ t-shirt
When your mum is a fashion designer, you’re likely to follow her style advice. But it may have backfired when Brooklyn looked less than impressed when wearing a t-shirt with the words: “My mama says I’m special.”
Lets hope it was an in joke between mother and son, but a then teenage Brooklyn’s expression implied otherwise. Not that it stopped Victoria from sharing it to Instagram.
