Celebrity Mastermind viewers issued the same complaint about the line-up just minutes into the latest episode
Celebrity Mastermind viewers were left distracted, voicing a common concern just moments into the latest episode.
BBC host Clive Myrie greeted the newest group of celebrities on Monday’s (January 19) episode, which included Olympic gold medallist James Cracknell, comedian Jen Brister, TV presenter Craig Rowe and Emmerdale actor Bradley Riches.
However, minutes into the show, viewers claimed that they didn’t recognise most of the so-called celebrities.
One viewer posted on X: “I’d forgotten how crucial it is to tune into #mastermind in time for the introductions when it’s the ‘celebrity’ version I recognise…none of them.”
Another chimed in: “#mastermind I’ve heard of one of the celebrities,” while a third echoed: “And here’s the token celeb for tonight. The rest you’ll have to Google.”

A fourth concurred: “Another half an hour of the word ‘celebrity’ doing some seriously heavy lifting.”, reports the Express.
Yet another queried whether this was “still the celebrity version”, while another remarked: “I like the way you no longer have to be a celebrity to get on.”
Echoing the same complaint, another fan stated: “Have just had to look up word #celebrity & folks it means famous. So who are these people on #celebritymastermind ? ? Aside from Cracknell (Olympic Champ) none are known. For anything!”.
In the notorious black chair, James was grilled on Russian mystic and faith healer Grigori Rasputin, while Jen fielded questions on writer and actress Tina Fey.
Craig’s chosen topic was the American singer and model Grace Jones, while soap actor Bradley was quizzed on the stage and film musical, Little Shop of Horrors.
Craig led the scoreboard with nine points, closely trailed by Jen, 50, on eight. James, 53, ended up with seven points, while it was a challenging evening for Bradley, 24, who managed to answer only three questions correctly.
The general knowledge round ensued and Bradley managed to bounce back, answering seven questions correctly. James, Jen and Craig shone in the round, all finishing on 14 with no passes.
Due to their equal scores, the contestants faced a three-way tie-break, with Clive posing the same questions to each of them. James emerged triumphant with 16 points, outscoring both Craig and Jen who had 15 points.
Mastermind airs Monday nights at 7:30 PM on BBC Two
