Hilary Duff is back on tour! For the first time in over a decade and a half, the artist took the stage in a sparkly denim co-ord for a headline performance, promoting her forthcoming album, Luck… or Something. And the setlist spanned 23 years of music.
Kicking off her Small Rooms, Big Nerves tour in London last night, Duff treated her guests to a mix of old and new tracks, pairing Y2K nostalgia with a feel for what’s to come.
She opened with a slew of fan favorites, from 2000s classics “Wake Up” and “So Yesterday” to her most-recent single, “Roommates,” capturing the audience immediately, before seamlessly moving through her discography.
Other standout moments included her emotional performance of “Someone’s Watching Over Me,” a ballad off of her self-titled third studio album, and her first live rendition of “My Kind” from 2015’s Breathe In. Breathe Out.
At moments, she left the nostalgia behind, debuting three tracks off of her upcoming album—“Weather for Tennis,” “Future Trippin’,” and “We Don’t Talk”—to a crowd eager to soak up every word.
Duff’s final lineup of songs, however, was perhaps the most exciting for her fans—for after performing her 2003 hit “Why Not,” she transitioned into the beloved “Come Clean” and then to her November release, “Mature,” which served as the lead single for her upcoming album.
And of course, she wrapped things up with a glistening performance of “What Dreams Are Made Of,” wearing a Miss Claire Sullivan bodysuit fit with floral embellishments and a dramatic cape—embracing her Lizzie McGuire days in all their glory.
After opening the tour in London, Duff will head to Toronto, New York City, and Los Angeles, before settling in for a six-night residency in Las Vegas.
