Bill O’Reilly has been battling an undisclosed health issue.
“Hey, No Spin Nation. Sorry, I am dealing with a malady,” O’Reilly, 76, shared via his blog on Tuesday, January 20. “We have great doctors so we’ll fight the good fight.”
He continued, “Doesn’t affect my fingers so will update you on me, [the] news cycle and anything major. Hopefully, [I will be] back in the saddle shortly.”
Without revealing many specifics about his health, O’Reilly continued to post new blogs about various political stories.
“Greetings, No Spin Nation! Your tour guide is OK and recovering from some stomach stuff,” he wrote in a Friday, January 23, update. “We are open on the website and …amazing good wishes have arrived here in New York City, and it’s hard to describe my gratitude.”
O’Reilly jokingly added that he wanted to plan a “jail break” out of the medical facility where he is receiving treatment.
“Working on the first broadcast back because there’s nothing else to do here except watch hysterical local TV news coverage about snow generated by global warming,” he wrote, referring to a storm anticipated to affect the New York area. “[I] have an invite to go to church with Don Lemon, but might be too risky. Who knew the depth of his spirituality?”
O’Reilly further promised that he will share “another update” in the Sunday, January 25, edition of his blog.
“Stay safe. The NSN is the best!” he concluded, referring to his supporters.
O’Reilly launched his “No Spin News” blog and podcast in 2017 after being fired from his on-air position at Fox News over sexual misconduct accusations.
“I am sad that I’m not on television anymore. I was very surprised how it all turned out,” O’Reilly said on the podcast in April 2017. “I can’t say a lot, because there’s so much stuff going on right now, but I can tell you that I’m very confident the truth will come out. And when it does — I don’t know if you’re going to be surprised, but I think you’re going to be shaken, as I am.”
O’Reilly publicly denied the allegations several months later in September 2017.
“If you look at the totality, this was a hit job — a political and financial hit job,” he stated on the Today show. “In 42 years, I’ve been in this business [and] I’ve worked for 12 companies. Not any time have I had any interaction with HR, any complaints filed against me.”
O’Reilly further claimed that he was accused after former Fox chairman Roger Ailes “went down” after allegations of sexual harassment. (Ailes had resigned from his position in July 2016, one year before he died at age 77.)
“After Roger Ailes went down, there was a flood of lawsuits — a flood — with dozens of people named,” O’Reilly said at the time. “Those lawsuits involved many other people, not just me. I’m not going to speculate about intent or why people did what they did. I could do that, but the collateral damage of these lawsuits, the press frenzy. Every allegation is a conviction. They don’t look for the truth.”
