According to royal expert Jennie Bond, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor wasn’t left to fend for himself. “Andrew is not going to be sleeping rough or going hungry,” she told The Mirror. “He probably won’t even be doing his own washing or cooking. He is going to be looked after by his big brother, given a home in a beautiful part of the U.K., and will almost certainly have staff to take care of his every need.”

While Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor still lives luxuriously, being banished from royal life has taken a toll. “I guess when you hit rock bottom, there’s nowhere else to go but up,” Jennie Bond said. “Stripped of his status and titles, evicted from his home [Royal Lodge] and exiled from royal events, Andrew must surely be at rock bottom by now. Although, of course, a royal or — even ex-royal — rock bottom is undoubtedly rather different from the conventional one.”

Although Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor still has months until he’s forced out of Royal Lodge, he’s reportedly getting situated at his new residence at Marsh Farm. “Workmen were there putting in a satellite dish for him. We know he loves his TV,” royal commentator Richard Kay said during an appearance on the “Palace Confidential” podcast.

Richard Kay believes Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is clinging to comforts like television as he navigates his new life. “I think it all harks back to his military days. He spent hours watching planes descending and taking off from Heathrow Airport on some interactive system that he had at Royal Lodge, and I’m sure that will be replicated at Marsh Farm,” he said.
