Collective Soul at Agua Caliente Resort Casino Spa

Rock: The ‘90s alternative band Collective Soul is enjoying a nostalgia-driven resurgence. After recording the album “Here to Eternity” in 2024 at Elvis Presley’s Honeymoon Hideaway house in Palm Springs and releasing the documentary ”Give Me a Word: The Collective Soul Story “ in 2025, the band is continuing to tour this year and will perform on Friday at Agua Caliente Resort Casino Spa.

Collective Soul had seven songs reach No. 1 on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock chart. “Shine,” the band’s first hit in 1994, became a staple of ‘90s alternative rock radio, selling over two million copies.

Black Flag at Pappy and Harriet’s

Punk: The legendary punk band Black Flag is getting attention due to another lineup change. Greg Ginn, the only remaining original member, hired new members Max Zanelly, David Rodriguez and Bryce Weston in 2025 and announced new material is coming in the future. Reviews by those who have seen recent live shows have been positive, but fans of the band’s legacy are skeptical.

Yachtley Crew at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino

Yacht Rock: If you like your rock smooth with vibes of cruising the ocean on a sunny day, the yacht rock tribute band Yachtley Crew has you covered. This Los Angeles band began when drummer Sailor Hawkins had an idea to put a band together, complete with nautical stage attire, that played covers of ’70s and ’80s love songs following the resurgence of yacht rock around 2016.

But the band also has original material in addition to covering songs by Boz Scaggs, Toto, Steely Dan, and more. See for yourself on Friday when Yachtley Crew performs at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino.

Hayes Carll at Mojave Gold

Country: Texas singer-songwriter Hayes Carll has blended his songs of humor and depth with Texas country and Americana. This style can be heard on his notable tunes “She Left Me for Jesus,” “Nice Things,” “Beaumont” and others. Carll’s songs have been covered by artists such as Kenny Chesney, Brothers Osborne and more.

Carll will perform on Saturday at Mojave Gold.

Mourning High and Instigator at The Dune Room

Metal: Ever since the local metal band Mourning High formed in 2022, they released a full-length album “Luck of the Draw” in 2024 and performed at the 2025 Wacken Open Air Festival in Wacken, Germany. On Saturday, Mourning High will perform at The Dune Room with another local metal band, Instigator.
