‘SNL’ cold open mocks Trump on Minneapolis, Venezuela
In the first “Saturday Night Live” episode of the year, cast members mocked Trump over his handling of Venezuela and the ICE shootings in Minneapolis.
“Saturday Night Live” is all new this weekend, with an Emmy-winning actor making his long-awaited hosting debut.
Following a star-studded roster of hosts and musical guests, the live comedy show is keeping the momentum going by bringing in Emmy and Golden Globe-winning Swedish actor Alexander Skarsgård and Grammy-winning musician Cardi B for the Jan. 31 show.
The “Big Little Lies” star is making his “SNL” hosting debut alongside Cardi B, who is returning to perform years after her musical guest debut in April 2018.
In a teaser ahead of the show, “SNL” cast members said Skarsgård was “already bringing so much to the table.”
Various examples of Skarsgård’s helpfulness (tallness), particularly in terms of reaching for things in high places, have been highlighted.
