On February 2, viewers of the Today show learned that Savannah’s mother, Nancy Guthrie, was reported missing from her home in Tucson, Arizona. Savannah was subsequently absent from the NBC daytime series on February 2 and February 3. NBC News reports that the case involving Nancy is being looked at as a “crime” and that she was taken “possibly in the middle of the night and that includes possible kidnapping or abduction.”
While the story involving Nancy continues to develop, Savannah broke her silence on the matter on Instagram. Sharing an image with the words “Please Pray,” she implored her followers to keep her family in their hearts.
“Thank you for lifting your prayers with ours for our beloved mom, our dearest Nancy, a woman of deep conviction, a good and faithful servant,” she wrote in the caption. “Raise your prayers with us and believe with us that she will be lifted by them in this very moment. We need you.”
“’He will keep in perfect peace those whose hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord,’” she added. “A verse of Isaiah for all time for all of us. Bring her home.”
Shortly after Savannah posted, her Today cast rallied around her.
