Koyo to release new album this May, share music video for “Irreversible”

Long Island melodic hardcore/emo outfit Koyo have announced a May 8th release date for their sophomore album Barely Here. The record will arrive via Pure Noise Records. Today, the band shared a music video for the lead single “Irreversible”.

Once again produced by Jon Markson, the album features guest appearances from Drain vocalist Sammy Ciaramitaro and Fleshwater vocalist/guitarist Marisa Shirar.

Frontman Joey Chiaramonte shared the following:

I think we’d learned so much about our process from making ‘Would You Miss It?’ that we knew exactly what we wanted going into this one and it came together with more of an instinctual kind of magic to it. A lot of bands think their second album has to be this magnum opus epic that sews so many things together, and I think we’d actually taken more of that approach with our first LP.

So with ‘Barely Here’ we wanted to do the opposite of that trajectory–we wanted to refine our strengths instead of doing this purposeful departure. It’s a snapshot of what our band is in its most no-frills, perfected form.

Koyo has been tapped to open the upcoming Arm’s Length UK & European tour which also features Ben Quad and Shoreline. The trek will kick off on February 5th in Southhampton, UK and run through the month ending on the 21st in Hamburg, DE.
