The Delmarva Christian boys’ basketball team moved to 9-6 on the season Feb. 2, as they defeated Sts. Peter & Paul 50-46 in Georgetown.
After spotting the Sabres with two foul shots and possession on a warm-up dunk violation, Royals sophomore guard Asher Woods made up for it by leading all scorers with 12 points, four rebounds and an assist.
Freshman Aarian Tucker recorded 10 points, six rebounds, six assists and five steals. Junior Josh LaRusso tallied 10 points, four rebounds, three steals and a block. Junior Noah Barbrow put up eight points and 12 rebounds.
“It was a tough game,” said LaRusso. “We fought hard. We had a rocky start, and it was back and forth all game. I like a physical game and [the referees] let us play. It is what it is. When we play as a team, it’s really hard to beat us.”
“It was physical,“ said Royals coach Pat Woods. “Flopping around isn’t going to be effective drawing any fouls. You have to go through contact, draw them to you, kick it out and knock down shots. We’re exhausted. This is our third game in four days. All of them were physical, tough games. It’s good for us, but we need a couple of days off.”
Nickolas Nicolopoulos led the Sabres with 12 points. Nehemiah Miller added 10.
The Royals host the Salisbury School Friday, Feb. 6, for Senior Night.
