Kid Rock has returned to social media after he was branded “repulsive” over lyrics in his 2001 song Cool, Daddy Cool.
Kid Rock posted a quote from Kobe Bryant which described “Mamba Mentality.” It read, “Learn to love the hate. Embrace it. Enjoy it. You earned it.
“Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and everyone should have one about you. Haters are a good problem to have. Nobody hates the good ones. They hate the great ones.”
Kid Rock’s social media return came following criticism of Cool, Daddy Cool, which was released in 2001 as part of the soundtrack for the animated children’s movie Osmosis Jones.
As well as the lyrics about underage girls, the song also featured the lines, “You know I got that gangsta lean / Hoes, they all adore me, I stop and they all swarm me / To check out all my fly gold rings / They treat me like the mayor ’cause I’m the biggest player.”
The song has been getting shared on social media after Kid Rock was announced as the headliner of Turning Point USA’s rival Super Bowl halftime show, following outrage over the NFL’s choice of Bad Bunny.
Kid Rock, real name Robert James Ritchie, will perform at Turning Point USA’s alternative Super Bowl halftime show, dubbed The All-American Halftime Show, on Sunday, February 8. The 55-year-old will be joined by Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice and Gabby Barrett at the event.
“Not a good look…” one critic on X posted alongside a screengrab of the song’s lyrics.
“MAGA has to be the greatest living contradiction of a political party,” someone else said following Kid Rock’s support of President Donald Trump.
A third critic admitted, “And with that pic & those lyrics, I just threw up in my mouth,” as someone else hit out, writing, “This is repulsive.”
Another person shared on X, “Fun Fact: Kid Rock once literally sang “I like ’em underage” — including on a song tied to a kids’ movie soundtrack — but MAGA is upset about Bad Bunny because he speaks Spanish.”
