As the world continues to keep Savannah Guthrie in their prayers, Hoda Kotb returned to the Today show to lend her support.
On February 2, news broke that Savannah’s mother, Nancy Guthrie, had been reported missing from her home in Tucson, Arizona, since January 31. The situation now involves both local authorities and the FBI, and Savannah, her sister Annie, and her brother Cameron have all come out with pleas for the public to help them bring their mother home safe and sound.
Given that Savannah has taken time off from Today to be with her family, viewers were heartened to see her longtime friend and former co-anchor, Hoda, appear on the February 6 broadcast. As she sat alongside Carson Daly, Sheinelle Jones, and Craig Melvin, Hoda said they’re supporting Savannah just as she’s supported them over the years.
“We’re all so close with [Savannah], and we all want to help her,” she stated in a clip posted on Instagram. “I’m looking at us, and I was thinking, who was first in the hospital when [Hoda’s daughter] Hope was sick? Savannah. Who hopped on a plane when [Carson’s] parents … ? Savannah. Who was sitting by [Sheinelle’s late husband] Uche [Ojeh]? How about when [Craig’s] brother passed? She was there.”
“You know, they say love is patient. Love is kind,” Hoda added. “We’ll be patient and put prayers up. That’s all we can do.”
When fans saw Hoda rally for Savannah live on the air, they got emotional about the love the two women share.
“Having Hoda back for this is 🥹🥹🥹 ultimate support and love!” one person wrote in the comments. “I think we all needed to see Hoda today. So much prayer for Momma Nancy to come home safely,” another agreed. “She had the most amazing and loving support team behind her ❤️,” a different follower added.
