With plenty of controversy surrounding the 2026 Super Bowl Halftime Show with headliner Bad Bunny, country star Jelly Roll was asked about his vision for the major TV moment.

While chatting with Entertainment Weekly at the Grammy Awards, Jelly Roll revealed who he’d like to see take the NFL stage next.

“The Super Bowl could possibly come to Nashville in the next three to five years,” he began, adding, “We’re getting a new stadium, and I have a dream that they do a country music-themed halftime show.”

“And maybe perhaps they’ll let me just do a little 20 or 30-second thing in it,” he added, throwing his name into the ring.

As for which artists he’d love to see, he named country icons like Tim McGraw, Garth Brooks, Reba McEntire, andDolly Parton.

“I would love to see the country legends and some of the new dogs like Morgan Wallen, Hardy,” he expressed, adding he’d love to see “some of the new garner come in.”

“So yeah, I think that’s my dream. Kenny Chesney, and maybe they’d let me come out and do a verse of something,” he added.

His wife, Bunnie XO, leaned over to add her two cents, stating, Megan Moroney and Ella Langley, which Jelly wholeheartedly agreed with, before adding LaineyWilson and “all of our friends.”

“But yeah, I’d love to see a country music themed halftime show that just kind of involved the whole community,” he concluded.

His statements, however, were hit with some unexpected backlash, in the comments, with many stating that a country music show would be skew political, with one suggesting, “He doesnt want to talk about politics but this is very political.”

“Country music isn’t global like the NFL and Bad Bunny,” someone else chimed in, as another expressed, “That sounds so boring 😂.”

“Soooo the CMAs…” another suggested, as someone noted, “Only yes to Dolly” and another stated, “We good.”

A few came to his defense, with one writing, “C’mon guys givem a break… I’m Latina and am super happy about Bad Bunny but would also love Garth, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Zach Bryan, Tyler Childers… Church… Shaboozie, Lanie! I love both Genres!”

Another expressed, “Amen! Mix it up! Rotate years between music genres! And also make sure the performances are family friendly to view,” while someone else had a suggestion, writing, “Love that idea🔥 Dolly and Beyonce could do Jolene🐝🐝🐝.”

2003 was the last time a country artist was featured on the Super Bowl Halftime Show, when Shania Twain performed alongside No Doubt and Sting, singing hits like “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!” and “Up!”

Country acts have been featured more often singing the National Anthem or performing during the pre-game, so Jelly Roll may be onto something, even if the full 15-minute performance wouldn’t be solely dedicated to the country genre.

While Bad Bunny is set to take the stage on Feb. 8, 2026, bringing Latin music to the world, the choice sparked plenty of backlash as well, with Turning Point USA, the conservative organization founded by late activist Charlie Kirk, announcing an “alternative” show with only country acts.

Turning Point USA’s “All-American Halftime Show”—set to rival the NFL’s—will feature the following performers: Kid Rock, Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice and Gabby Barrett.
