JACKSON TWP. − The Griswolds are coming to Stark County.
Funnyman Chevy Chase and fellow actor Beverly D’Angelo will make a joint appearance at Belden Village Mall and sign memorabilia.
Known for their roles in the “National Lampoon’s Vacation” and “Christmas Vacation” movies, Chase and D’Angelo will be at Prime Time Sports at Belden Village Mall on March 1. The event starts at 12:30 p.m. with VIP early access at noon.
Prime Time Sports, with 20,000 followers on Facebook, specializes in sports and entertainment memorabilia. Prime Time Sports also has frame shop in Kent.
Chase will sign items for a fee, ranging from $100 to $250. Tickets are available through Prime Time Sports & Framing, including for a dual photo op with both Chase and D’Angelo.
Prime Time Sports recently hosted former NBA and Chicago Bulls star Dennis Rodman at Belden Village Mall. Upcoming events also include former NBA and Cleveland Cavaliers players Ron Harper and Mark Price, who will both appear Feb. 21 at the mall.
“We aim to bring in top talent between the entertainment and sports industry,” Prime Time Sports said in a message to The Canton Repository via Facebook. “We will have items for purchase at the event if people choose not to bring their own items.”
‘Fletch,’ ‘Three Amigos’ and ‘Caddyshack’
Chase’s movies include “European Vacation,” “Caddyshack,” “Fletch,” “Vegas Vacation,” “Funny Farm,” “Three Amigos,” “Spies Like Us” and “Cops and Robbersons.”
D’Angelo, meanwhile, is a 74-year-old Ohio native who costarred in all of the “Vacation” movies. She also had roles in “Cole Miner’s Daughter,” “Paternity,” “American History X,” “Violent Night” and “No Address.”
Chase, 82, first gained fame when he was on “Saturday Night Live” from 1975 to 1976, serving as the first anchor of the “Weekend Update” segment.
He also hosted “The Chevy Chase Show” on Fox in 1993, which lasted only six weeks.
Chevy Chase documentary
The actor was back in the news recently when he was the subject of a celebrity.land documentary, “I’m Chevy Chase and You’re Not.”
Announcing the documentary earlier this year, celebrity.land touted it as a “bold and deeply human portrait of one of Hollywood’s great enigmas” from Primetime Emmy Award winner Marina Zenovich.
“With biting wit and disarming candor, Zenovich unpacks how the man once crowned America’s comedy golden boy became its favorite cautionary tale,” celebrity.land said in a news release. “At its heart, ‘I’m Chevy Chase and You’re Not’ is the story of a performer with outsized gifts, who could make a nation laugh − but who could not always outrun his own contradictions − and whose films still circulate in the zeitgeist, quoted and rediscovered by new generations.”
