Influencer Chinnu Papu has died from an apparent suicide at 24.
The content creator, who had more than 200,000 Instagram followers, was found unresponsive by neighbors inside her rented home around noon on Monday, February 9.
Papu’s body was brought to a local hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead, as reported by India TV News and Onmanorama. Her family was informed around 2 p.m.
Her death was confirmed as a suicide by a postmortem examination, according to multiple reports, which claim her body will be handed over to her family after an autopsy is completed. Officials said there was no initial evidence of force or assault.
Papu is survived by her 4-year-old son and her two brothers, Ratheesh and Ranjith, as well as her parents, Gangadharan and Shailaja, who told Onmanorama that Papu’s death came nearly a month after her divorce from her husband, Prajula. They said the former couple got married five years prior, noting that their split seemed to take a toll on Papu.
“But she made a conscious effort not to show it outwardly,” her father told the outlet. “She would keep everything to herself and rarely shared her problems with us.”
Her brothers are reportedly urging officials to investigate her death. Ratheesh and Ranjith said they were not aware of their sibling facing any money issues.

Papu’s son was with her parents at the time of her death. The late influencer would often travel alone for work-related video shoots, according to her father, who told another local outlet, “She seemed happy and spoke to us cheerfully just the day before.”
Papu’s family reportedly said that she had last visited home on January 25 and appeared to be in good spirits, adding, “There was peace at home, and no problems were mentioned.”
Prior to her untimely death, Papu built up a large fanbase online as she documented her day-to-day life in a rural village. She would often upload videos checking out local cuisine, places to visit and the Tulu language, with 154 posts on her grid as of this month.

Her final video was posted on February 3 and showed her picking up ingredients at a local market before whipping up a recipe. “Rip💔💔🌹,” one social media user commented. “Condolences 🌹,” another wrote, while a third also mourned her loss, writing, “RIP chinnuuu🥺🌹.”
Fellow content creator Gopikrishna spoke out about Papu’s shocking death and said he couldn’t believe that someone who walked around “with such a smile” was gone.
