Nickelback and Don Broco Tease Collaboration: Dropping New Music?

What are Nickelback and Don Broco up to?! The legendary ’90s Canadian rock band and cult-favorite 2010s English alt rock band took to Instagram with some mysterious collaboration posts on Feb. 9 and 10, and fans are desperate to know what their “collab of the century” project actually is!

“Can I be the new lead singer?” Don Broco captioned their Feb. 9 post, which shows Nickelback lead singer Chad Kroeger with all of the Don Broco members—guitarist Simon Delaney, drummer and vocalist Matt Donnelly, bassist Tom Doyle—minus their larger-than-life lead vocalist Rob Damiani.

A second collab post on Feb. 10 added more intrigue with the caption, “DON BROCO x NICKELBACK. NIGHTMARE TRIPPING.” The photo shows all four members of Don Broco, plus Kroeger and Nickelback guitarist, keyboardist, and backing vocalist Ryan Peake, sitting around a spooky dinner table.

Fans were both excited and confused in the comments of the post. “Not being dramatic this is the best thing that’s ever happened in all of history… this band is the definition of never let them know your next move,” said one fan, while another added, “I don’t really know what it is, nor do I get it, but either away, it looks really good, whatever it is.” “Not sure if I’m being trolled or not,” said a third, with another chiming in, “This is genuinely the f–king strangest crossover I’ve seen and I’m so happy.”

Others couldn’t help but share puns using the most popular songs from each band, with heavy pop band The Home Team teasing, “And they say that Don Broco could save us, I’m not gonna stand here and wait,” and another fan joking, “NEVER MADE IT AS A HYPE MAN!” while one screamed, “LOOK AT THIS PHOTOGRAPH!”

Others debated what to call the combination of bands, with suggestions ranging from “Brocback” to “Nickelbroc” to “Donkelback.”

But what is the project? Some theorized that it could be a joint song together, which could potentially be released on Friday the 13th of February. Others speculated that they could be teaming up for a tour, as Don Broco just wrapped their 2025 tour and Nickelback also has no planned concerts coming up. Whatever it is, fans are ready for it, with one summing it up perfectly: “Confused? Yes. Concerned? Mildly. Hyped? Even more so.”

Who Is Don Broco?

Nickelback is among the most famous rock bands in the world, with five songs that hit the Top 10 in the Billboard Hot 100 (including “How You Remind Me,” which sat at No. 1 for four weeks,) but their potential new music collaborators have also built a devoted fan base in the alternative rock scene over the last two decades.

The “Gumshield” rockers formed in 2008, and they built a dedicated following for their energetic live shows and genre-blending sound. They began their rise to fame with their 2012 debut album Priorities, but they started really blowing up with their 2018 album Technology, which featured songs like “T-shirt Song,” “Come out to LA,” and “Everybody.”

In 2023, they were introduced even more to American audiences when they joined The Used and Pierce The Veil’s 2023 Creative Control Tour across North America. In 2025, they performed at the When We Were Young music festival in Las Vegas.
