The search for Nancy Guthrie continues, and there has been a major new update.
According to celebrity.land, investigators were seen searching a vehicle in connection with her disappearance after questioning a person who was detained in Rio Rico, Arizona, around 60 miles south of Tucson near the US-Mexico border, in connection with the disappearance of Savannah Guthrie’s 84-year-old mom.
While authorities are searching a car and a home, Nancy’s whereabouts still remain unknown, according to a law enforcement source. It comes after an ex-FBI agent revealed the hidden codeword that Savannah used in her message to the kidnappers.
Authorities in Rio Rico, Arizona, about 60 miles south of Tucson, were seen searching a vehicle in connection with the case, according to footage filmed by celebrity.land on the scene.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the vehicle, a gray SUV, was the one pulled over during a traffic stop, during which a person was stopped and taken in for questioning.
Video from the scene shows the car alongside vehicles from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department and Marana Police, a town north of Tucson.
Public Information Officer Agelica Carrillo told the Express US, “Earlier today, Pima County Sheriff’s Department deputies detained a subject during a traffic stop south of Tucson.
“The subject is currently being questioned in connection to the Nancy Guthrie investigation. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.”
This breaking update comes after the FBI released surveillance footage of a masked person approaching Nancy’s front door and tampering with her front door camera on Tuesday, February 10.
“Law enforcement has uncovered these previously inaccessible new images showing an armed individual appearing to have tampered with the camera at Nancy Guthrie’s front door the morning of her disappearance,” FBI director Kash Patel announced in a post on X.
The videos and images revealed a figure wearing a mask, gloves, a zipped-up jacket, pants and sneakers. The individual was also carrying a backpack and a holstered handgun. They were at Nancy’s home around the time that investigators believe she was taken in the early hours of February 1.
At this time, there is no indication that the detained individual is the same figure in the newly released video footage.
