Author Stephanie Fowler talks about her new book, ‘Into the Night’

Author Stephanie Fowler has released her third book “Into the Night”. It’s a true crime work on the 1968 double homicide at the Wicomico County jail.

  • Seacrets in Ocean City has announced its lineup for its annual St. Patrick’s Day celebration.
  • The Bottle & Cork nightclub will kick off its 90th year with a concert by Tommy Conwell & the Young Rumblers.
  • Freeman Arts Pavilion has added new shows to its spring and summer schedule, including comedian John Mulaney.

Love is in the air, and restaurants and bars are expected to be packed this weekend as Valentines Day falls on Saturday, Feb. 14. Beach locals who have cabin fever from the recent cold snap are also enjoying the news being shared about spring and summer events coming to entertainment venues.

Fager’s Island has annual Oyster Garden event for Valentine’s Day

In Ocean City on Saturday, Fager’s Island has a yearly tradition set for those who would love some seafood and suds on Valentine’s Day. The 12th annual Oyster Garden event will have a live rock ’n ‘ roll soundtrack from the John Frase Project from noon to 4 p.m. ($78).

Seacrets has For The Love of Trivia on Valentine’s Day eve

Elsewhere in OC, Seacrets will host a “love and romance”-themed version of For The Love of Trivia from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13. The entertainment complex’s Morley Hall has been closed for its usual brief winter hiatus, but will be back in full force when it reopens Saturday, Feb. 14, with music from party band Steal the Sky at 10 p.m.

Love on Tap, St. Patrick’s day blowout upcoming at Seacrets

Looking ahead a week, Seacrets’ annual Love On Tap: Shore Craft Beer Fest will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21. It will include music by the reggae-ska group Dancing Elephants ($45 for general admission, $70 for VIP). The six-piece group, which includes a horn section, will play music from its latest album “The Chronicles of Kevin & Ringo.”

Seacrets has also unveiled the lineup for its legendary Irie-ish Music Fest St. Patrick’s Day blowout, which will be held Saturday, March 14. The Porch Band will kick things off at noon, followed by John McNutt’s Keltic Rock Warriors (1 p.m.); Tommy Boi (4:30 p.m.); The Poprocks (5 p.m.); Radio Stranger (5:30 p.m.); The Way Outs (9 p.m.); and The Event Horizon (10 p.m.). Those who wish to skip to the head of the line for admittance that day can order LineLeap tickets in advance ($10).

Grateful Dead tribute coming to Dewey Beach’s Rusty Rudder

In Dewey Beach, the Rusty Rudder is closed for the season but will open its doors later this month for one night only. Tickets are on sale now for the show by Grateful Dead tribute act Shakedown Citi, which will perform at 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27 ($20). The show should help to cheer up local deadheads saddened by last month’s passing of Grateful Dead singer-guitarist Bob Weir.

Dewey Beach’s Rusty Rudder will have big show for spring return

The Rudder’s nearby sister business, the decades-old Bottle & Cork is also closed for the season. However, the good folks at the Cork have gifted us with an exclusive scoop this week and we are happy to break the news about something that will be happening this spring.

The nightclub, which will be celebrating its 90th year in business, will open for the season Friday, May 15, and it will do so in style by kicking off its annual concert series right off the bat that night with the return of Philly favorite Tommy Conwell & the Young Rumblers. (Ticket prices will be announced when they go on sale this month.) The reunited blues-rock act had MTV videos in the 1980s and ‘90s including “I’m Not Your Man,” “If We Never Meet Again” and “I’m Seventeen.”

James Taylor, John Mulvaney coming to Freeman Arts Pavilion

In Selbyville, the newly-refurbished Freeman Arts Pavilion has unveiled a number of concerts that will take place under the stars when it opens for the season this spring. It was no surprise that tickets to see acoustic folk-rock icon James Taylor on Wednesday, Sept. 9 sold out within minutes of going on sale last month. Another large batch of names was announced this week (with more to come).

A comedy show that is also sure to sell out will feature Emmy-winning funny man John Mulaney on Sunday, Aug. 2. While tickets were initially to be available this week, Freeman now says to stay tuned until a new on-sale date is announced. To give an idea of how popular Mulaney is, the “Mister Whatever” tour will also include the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on May 8 and Wrigley Field in Chicago on July 11.
