“This year’s Puppy Bowl delivered its strongest performance in nearly a decade, and its success across linear and streaming highlights our unique ability to unite audiences around content that feels good and does good,” Joseph Boyle, Head of Content at the Discovery Channel, gushed in a statement.
“We’re grateful to bring viewers so much joy and are deeply proud of the purpose at the heart of this event,” he added.
As for Bad Bunny’s show, official numbers indicated he drew an impressive 128.2 million viewers, making it one of the most-watched halftime shows in history.
Meanwhile, the All-American gig, which featured performances from Kid Rock and country musicians Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice and Gabby Barrett, drew in a mere 6.1 million viewers on YouTube. It had since garnered 21 million viewers in the days that followed.
It has been seen as yet another humiliation for 55-year-old Kid Rock after he was accused of lip-syncing and branded an “embarrassment” by trolls.
While Kid has since insisted he wasn’t lip-syncing and blamed it on a general syncing issue, he did admit the show wasn’t actually live, like originally stated.
