Dancing With the Stars announced something major about its future … and fans have a lot to say about it.
With viewers eager for season 35 to air on ABC and Disney+ this fall, folks behind the scenes at DWTS decided to give fans a chance to experience something totally new. Teasing the major news on social media, fans were shocked to learn that Dancing with the Stars would be hosting its own fan convention this summer.
Planned to run from July 31 through August 2, the event will feature fans meeting some of their favorite pros and celebrity competitors throughout the weekend. What’s more, the event will take place at the Acrisure Arena in Palm Springs, California—a perfect spot for folks to engage in a bit of dancing!
“✨HISTORY IN THE MAKING✨,” the caption read on Instagram on February 10. “For the FIRST. TIME. EVER. Dancing with the Stars is going BIG with a three-day fan weekend! Three days. Your favorite pros & celebs. Nonstop dancing, panels, photo ops, and unforgettable moments. This is more than a con … it’s a celebration.”
Upon releasing the announcement, many DWTS fans were ecstatic about the chance to get more ballroom dancing in before the season 35 premiere this fall.
“This is the announcement we’ve been waiting for 😭,” one person wrote in the comments.
“WOW,” another exclaimed.
“This is my Super Bowl,” a different follower shared.
There were plenty of folks excited about the thought of a Dancing with the Stars fan convention, while others had different reactions to the unexpected news.
“Making such a big announcement for something that 90% of the fans won’t be able to go to is wild 😂,” one person wrote.
“Meh, I’m disappointed. 😢,” another replied.
“Thought it was going to be something totally different 😑,” a different viewer shared.
So, who can fans expect to make an appearance at the first-ever Dancing with the Stars convention? Some of the show’s current pros (including season 34 winner Witney Carson), as well as Jenna Johnson, Valentin “Val Chmerkovskiy, and more, will be there throughout the weekend, along with past pros such as Lindsay Arnold and Sharna Burgess. Additionally, Whitney Leavitt, Joey Graziadei, Ginger Zee, and others will make appearances.
To top it all off, cameos from judges Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli will make the spectacle even better.
